The Haramosh La Trek is one of the most remote, wild, and awe-inspiring high-altitude treks in the Karakoram Mountains of northern Pakistan. This challenging route traverses the dramatic landscapes between the lush Haramosh Valley in Gilgit and the remote Arandu village in Baltistan, crossing the formidable Haramosh La Pass at approximately 4,800 meters.

Unlike popular treks in the Karakoram like the K2 Base Camp or Rakaposhi Base Camp, the Haramosh La Trek is rarely visited and remains off the beaten path — offering an unmatched adventure for seasoned trekkers and alpine purists.

🌄 A Trek Through Contrasting Worlds

The trek begins in the serene Haramosh Valley, where terraced fields, walnut trees, and traditional stone houses dot the hillsides. As trekkers ascend toward Kutwal Lake, they are rewarded with dramatic views of Haramosh Peak (7,397m), Laila Peak, and glacial moraines. The tranquil alpine lake of Kutwal, surrounded by towering peaks, is a highlight in itself.

The journey then takes a daring turn into the icy realm of the Haramosh La Glacier. The ascent to Haramosh La Pass is technical and demanding, requiring glacier travel skills and proper equipment. Once over the pass, the landscape shifts dramatically — from the icy world of high Karakoram glaciers to the surreal, vast Chogo Lungma Glacier, overlooked by the golden walls of Spantik (7,027m), also known as Golden Peak.

From here, the trek continues through rarely explored valleys, eventually descending into the rugged beauty of Arandu, a village perched at the confluence of glacial streams and alpine meadows. This is also a base for expeditions to Spantik and other peaks of the Hispar Muztagh subrange.
